The right person, in the right job, at the right time.
We follow a robust Safer Recruitment process to ensure that staff and volunteers working with vulnerable people are suitable for the role by examining their skills, experience, qualifications, and values.

Your Recruitment Journey
Applying for a Role
To apply for a role you will need to register on our careers site. This only takes a few minutes and creates a profile for you. If you upload a CV at registration, this will populate some of your application, saving you time. If you don’t see a suitable role, you can still register and sign up for job alerts and we will proactively contact you with any suitable roles.
Shortlisting Process
Your personal information will be removed when your application is forwarded to the appropriate hiring managers, enabling an objective shortlisting process that evaluates your application on the basis of skills and experience. This eliminates any possibility of unintentional bias.
You will be notified via email of the outcome of your application and any subsequent stages.
Interview Stage
If your application is successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited for an interview to discuss the role and your skills and experience.
If your interview is successful, you will be issued with a conditional offer of employment. If you are not successful, we will provide you with constructive feedback.
Background Checks
For employed roles, we will apply for two employment references; one of these will be from your current/most recent employer, plus one other employer. We will also apply for a PVG check or a standard disclosure depending on your role. For volunteer roles, we will apply for one professional and one character reference. We may also need to apply for a PVG depending on the nature of your volunteering role.
When your background checks have been completed, your line manager will contact you to agree a start date, and you will be issued with your contract of employment/volunteer agreement.
How to Prepare For Interview
- Carefully read over our website to learn more about what we do, does anything stand out?
 - Our culture is based on our shared values. Do these align with you? If so, we want to hear from you! We encourage you to reflect on how these show up in your own experiences.
 - The interview will partly be answering some competency-based questions; these are questions that focus on your past experience, and can often start with, “Tell me about a time when…?”, “Give an example of…?”. You can read here about the STARR method which will help you to prepare for answering these types of questions.
 - Carefully read over the job and person specification – think about your past experience and how it relates to the duties, skills and essential and desirable criteria. What transferrable skills and experience do you have?
 - Some roles may involve completing a task before the interview. If this applies, we’ll provide you with all the relevant details in advance. If you have any questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

- Be prepared and have any documents available that you are asked to bring to your interview, such as ID documents and qualification certificates.
 - If you can’t think of an answer to a question, or you are not sure of what is being asked, please ask for the question to be repeated or ask to move on and come back. We will also prompt and explain further if we think you are unsure of what we are asking.
 - Your interview is a two-way process, so take note in advance of any questions that you would like to ask about Right There, the team or the job itself; it can be easy to forget. You are welcome to bring your notes into any of our interviews.
 - We want you to feel comfortable and confident talking about yourself and your potential and for you to find out more about us. We’ll do our best to make you feel welcome – so please enjoy the experience.
