Outreach Support Worker

About the role

We are recruiting for a Support Worker to join our Outreach Housing Support programme in South Lanarkshire.

The role of Support Worker focuses on supporting individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing high-quality outreach support in the community helping people to find suitable long-term accommodation.

Main duties will include:

  • Manage a caseload of people in the community to transition from temporary to permanent accommodation or to maintain their tenancies
  • Arrange and facilitate weekly support meetings to develop and implement support plans in collaboration with the people we support to meet their individual needs and develop their ability to manage their own tenancy
  • Develop life skills with the people we support including budgeting, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aid independence
  • Offer intensive housing support to help the people we support to manage their responsibilities as tenants and help people move towards securing permanent accommodation
  • Assist the people we support to integrate into the local community
  • Provide a safe space for the people we support to discuss their health, past trauma and experiences while offering emotional support

We’re looking for you to have gained relevant experience from supporting vulnerable people as well as having knowledge of current relevant legislation and policies relating to housing and homelessness and housing and other relevant benefits. Evidence of continuous professional development is desirable.

A full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes is an essential requirement.

Shift pattern:

3 x 10.00-20.00, 1 x 10.00-19.00 worked on a 4-week rolling rota. 2 weekends off per month, 1 weekend working Saturday and Sunday and 1 weekend working Saturday or Sunday.

What you can expect from us..

We value our staff as our greatest asset and we will provide the following working conditions:

  • The post holder will report to the Senior Support Worker
  • Your normal working hours are 39 per week worked 4 days out of 7 on a rota basis
  • Annual leave entitlement of 234 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year, rising to 312 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata in the second year. This is inclusive of public holidays
  • You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria
  • Life Insurance 4 x salary from day one
