Support Worker

About the role

We are recruiting for a Support Worker to join the team at our Supported Accommodation programme based at Branston Court in Glasgow.

The programme provides 24-hour support and accommodation for young people, many of whom have experienced significant tough times in their lives.

The Support Worker provides support for people transitioning from temporary to permanent, or other long-term suitable accommodation.

The post is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, this may be extended.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Arrange and facilitate key work meetings to develop support plans in collaboration with the people we support
  • Develop life skills with the people we support including how to maximise income, involvement in meaningful activities, budgeting, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aid independence
  • Assist the people we support to engage and integrate into the local community
  • Undertake household duties to maintain the accommodation to a high standard
  • Plan, implement and develop workshops or programme activities
  • Promote involvement in the improvement and development of the service by the people we support
  • Attend and participate in training and share learning experiences

What we expect from you..

We’re looking for you to have gained relevant experience from working  a similar role supporting vulnerable people and to have knowledge of the issues surrounding homelessness. You will also have good IT skills competent in the use of MS Office and good time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines.

What you can expect from us..

  • The post holder will report to the Senior Support Worker
  • Your normal working hours are an average of 39 per week worked Monday to Sunday in shifts which are defined by your line manager on a rolling rota
  • Annual leave entitlement of 234 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata in your first year, rising to 312 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata in your second year. This includes public holidays
  • You will automatically be enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, providing you meet the auto-enrolment criteria
